In commemoration towards the launch of 'A Sunken Mall', the new Vaagner affiliated label which saw J. Carter release his debut vinyl release, PTP main stay Dis Fig and New Mexico native Angelo Harmsworth revisited Carterʼs previous outing, 'Their Arms Surround Me Like Chains Made of Velvet', which was released on VAKNAR last year, and prepared two remixes that each rework one piece from the album.

Dis Figʼs Rework is divided into 3 stages that take the listener from sentimental grief to indisposed reflection and rigours, purifying squalor, while Angelo Hamrsworthʼs rework is built around an ever moving and depth defying guitar stroke that, over time, expands into a tempest of bellowing machines gone haywire, all before reaching a final climax of pure, serene retrospection.

"PTP-affiliate Dis Fig pays homage to the original work in offering slight alterations and vocal accompaniment. The artist’s cathartic lyricism compliments mournful piano melodies that slowly evolve into hardened drone atmospheres. Eventually, the howling top line fades into pulsating organ chords reminiscent of Kali Malone’s 2019 album The Sacrificial Code. Through partitioning Carter’s plaintive ambience, Dis Fig contemplates a longing for someone far away."
